HENRE II July 08 meeting
A very successful meeting was held in Lancaster during the 4th and 5th July with 22 participants from 11 countries. Each sub group leader provided a full and clear exposition of the achievements and activities of their subgroup over the previous year.

Two invited speakers gave the following presentations:
Sarah Chesney, UK on the ‘e-portfolios: the value of and use by students and staff’
Morten Weibye, NO on the new edition of the GE Healthcare website ‘Medcyclopaedia’ and how HENRE might like to collaborate with GE for the mutual benefit of both parties.
Both presentations are available on the HENRE website.
Day 2 of the meeting provided for lengthy discussions on the way forward for HENRE post the EU funding period. Preparations for the making of a formal approach to the European Federation of Radiography Societies (EFRS) by HENRE to become its educational arm are in progress. The EFRS are due to meet in early November to consider any proposal which might be put forward. An interim steering group was established to oversee this process.

ECR 2009
All Henre members present at the Lancaster meeting were in agreement that ECR 2009 (6th to 10th March) in Vienna should be the venue for the next meeting.
HENRE members are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts as mentioned in the circulated minutes and action list for the July meeting. Hopefully members have now met the closing date for abstracts of 18th September. On March 8th in the morning, already in the ECR programme, both Susanne and Sija will be presenting under RC 914 Professional Issues/Education. Susanne Huber’s presentation is entitled ‘Update on the work of HENRE’ and Sija Geers’ presentation is entitled ‘The development of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS)’.
If we are successful in acceptance of abstracts (notification will be towards the end of November) it could be that a large part of the radiography element of the Congress will be a HENRE showcase!

5th Baltic Radiography Congress Sept 08
A number of HENRE partners from different European countries as presenters took part in the above congress held at the Jurmala Beach Hotel, Riga, Latvia on 12th-13th September. There were over 700 radiography delegates from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the congress was a great success thanks not least to Ainars (subgroup 3).
