HENRE
NEWSLETTER July - September 2005
Success for HENRE 2
The HENRE team at St Martins have been successful in
securing a further 3 years funding for the HENRE 2
project which commences on October 1st 2005.
Plans are under way to launch this project at the annual
general meeting (AGM) scheduled for 15th-19th February
2006 in Malta. You will receive an invitation to the
AGM before Christmas with some new information about
the new proposed working groups.
Future Meetings
The first working group meetings of HENRE 2 will be held
at the time of the AGM in Malta. All the dates and
venues for other meetings to be held in the first year
will be arranged by each group at this time.
Management Group Meeting
This meeting was held on Friday 23rd September in Manchester.
The management team would like to thank Carena Eaton
from the University of Salford for all the hard work
involved in the organisation and travel arrangements
for that meeting and the final subgroup 1 meeting held
the next day.
St Martins position on HENRE 2
The International Office at St Martins College has been
disbanded this summer. Unfortunately this means we
have had to lose Mike Stokes from the administrative
team. I would like to thank Mike on behalf of the network
for his hard work and enthusiasm for the HENRE project
and in helping to secure continuation of the network
for 3 more years.
The financial management of the HENRE 2 network will
be taken over by the Faculty of Health at St Martins
College, Lancaster.
Targeting of the Tuning questionnaire: Response to the
Tuning questionnaire to
date has been reasonable. The questionnaire is designed
to represent the views of the
individual rather than the institution. Therefore we
need responses from at least 15 academics (if possible)
in the subject area from your institution. As well as your own University
target other Institutions in your Country using your
contacts.
Ist Euro med Congress (7 -11 Sept 2005)
HENRE was privileged to have a stand at the technical
exhibition where details of the network were displayed
and leaflets outlining the present project and the
forthcoming project of HENRE 2 were available for delegates.
Copies of the HENRE Tuning questionnaire and the Sub
group 1 questionnaire were made available for interested
radiographers.
Carena Eaton, HENRE sub group 1 co-ordinator
presented ÔImproving Cross-cultural understanding of
the teaching and learning terminology used in radiography
higher education across EuropeÕ. The presentation arose
from one of the HENRE AGM workshop activities which was
in response to the Tuning Line 3 related to Learning
and Teaching. The presentation was well received and
introduced the delegates to HENRE and to the idea of
providing radiography educators with a reference point
in which to define their own practice in learning and
teaching.
A forum for delegates to participate in a round table
discussion about education matters followed on from 3
presentations that gave an overview of some educational
issues affecting radiographers across Europe. Val Challen
provided an introduction to the use of the learning outcomes
approach to learning and teaching at HE level.
Farewell
We will be saying goodbye to Jo Barnes in November. I
wish her every success in her new job. Many thanks
Jo for the invaluable contribution made to the network!
Annali Bone will be taking over her role. The admin
e-mail address is the same
Best wishes and very good summer to all!
